In preparation for us moving to Year 1, we have been creating Transition Turtles! These turtles will swim to our new Year 1 classroom and meet us there in September!

We had a lovely time for our final Woodland Explorers session! In small groups, we made nature bubble wands. We loved using these to make our own bubbles. We then explored the forest and made our own creations using the mud kitchen!

We have loved finding out all about animals that live under the sea, and the different ocean zones! In small groups, we really enjoyed creating ocean seascapes in shoe boxes, talking about the different depths of the ocean and using different materials to create our seascapes. Week 5
We had a wonderful time at All Things Wild, Honeybourne! We loved going on a coach and finding out about dinosaurs and different animals that live under the sea. In groups, we also explored the park, going on a minibeast trail, pedal go-karts, the adventure playground and many more!

In Maths this week we have been exploring adding and subtracting halves and quarters to make our own Maths Stories using cups. We have also been matching numeral to quantity using compare bears, number fans and Numicon!

Finding out about different animals that live under the sea - we used wax crayons to draw seaweed and the seabed. Then, we used watercolours to paint the ocean! We also each drew the different animals you might see underwater, then cut them out and arranged them to create our own seascape pictures!

In our outdoor exploring session this week, we have been finding out all about why plants have flowers and why they have colourful petals. We talked about how we could look after them, then created our own flower crowns and watercolour pictures!

We all had a wonderful time for our first Sports Day! We had a go at lots of different races, including the egg and spoon race, hurdles, sack race, scarecrow race and many more!

This week, we have been finding out all about time and telling the time to o'clock! We have really enjoyed creating the different times using clocks, making times using the long and short hands and ordering and sequencing different events throughout the day. Week 1
In our outdoor explorers time, we found out all about Monarch caterpillars! We talked about the different foods that caterpillars eat, where they might live and what they look like. We used wool and sticks to make our own caterpillars, then acted out role play with them. Using magnifying glasses, we also went on a minibeast hunt, and found a real caterpillar!

Week 7
Over the past few weeks, we have loved working with Year 1 to create our own papier-mâché minibeasts! We started off by using newspaper and masking tape to create the head, thorax and abdomen. Then, we used water glue and newspaper to cover our bugs with papier-mâché. Finally, we added pipe cleaner legs, googly eyes and painted our minibeasts. You can see them all displayed in our library area!

In our outdoor learning this week, we found out all about baby animals that are born in the summer! We loved finding out about hedgehogs and squirrels, then used clay to create a hedgehog in small groups. After that, we used magnifying glasses to become animal detectives, searching for signs of animals in our forest area.

Week 5
Recently, we have really enjoyed finding out about bees! We used pens to draw a bee, then watercolours to paint it, talking about the different colours we have chosen to use and why.

Reception became butterflies! We used chalks to draw patterns onto the wings drawn onto our playground, and then became the butterflies ourselves. We really enjoyed making these and spotted the repeating patterns and talked about symmetry.

Week 4
We had a great time with iSing Pop! We practiced the songs and actions with Year 1 and 2, then got to perform the songs with the whole school, Pre-School came to visit too! To view some of the songs we sang for you to share at home, please click here.

Finding out all about the changes in our environment in the summertime! We used observation skills to spot signs of summer, and worked in small groups to collect the colours of summer. After that, we all loved playing summer parachute games!

Using the app Purple Mash to create and retell our own butterfly life cycles! We really enjoyed choosing realistic colours to draw the different parts of our life cycle, then used a keypad to type a short caption for it. After that, we wrote about the butterfly life cycle, describing the changes that happen to a butterfly throughout their life.

As part of our topic, Come Outside, we have been finding out all about the artwork of Eric Carle! We used pegs on pom poms to create colourful dot paintings, then cut them out and created a symmetrical pattern on our butterflies!

We had lots of fun toasting hot cross buns, and finding out about Easter! After we had toasted our hot cross buns, then we spread our choice of topping on top.

As part of British Science Week, we really enjoyed our Forensic Science workshop! We looked at fingerprints and footprints, using magnifying glasses and tweezers to find clues!

Week 2
In maths, we have been ordering and comparing height using shorter than and taller than. We have been using cubes to compare and see which towers are the tallest, measuring our feet using cubes and have been putting different objects into order from shortest to tallest.

For our outdoor learning this week, we have been finding out all about Spring! We talked about the seasonal changes that occur at this time of the year, then had a go at making spring pots in small groups. After that, we made daffodil collages, using tissue paper.

Finding out all about Chinese and Lunar New Year! We made fireworks in a jar and opened fortune cookies with a friend. As part of our topic, Terrific Tales, we enjoyed drawing and painting our own cows from the story Jack and the Beanstalk! We used watercolours to paint them, and talked about the different colours we had chosen to use and why.

Week 2
Finding out all about the story, Jack and the Beanstalk! We were so excited to see that a beanstalk had started to grow in our classroom. We had a go at retelling the story, with different people acting as the characters. We also sequenced and retold a key part of the story, writing a label for each part, and had a go at retelling the story using Now Press Play too!

For our last day of school, we had so much fun celebrating Christmas Jumper Day! We also had a whole school Christmas dinner in the hall, and watched a Robin Hood pantomime in the afternoon!

In preparation for Christmas, we had so much fun making gingerbread! We used scales and cups to measure and sort the ingredients, took turns stirring and creating the mixture, then baked the gingerbread and added decorations!

We have been very busy writing Christmas letters! We really enjoyed walking down to our local post box and posted them to a special address at the North Pole.

We went on our first school trip, to Pershore Library! We really enjoyed going on a treasure hunt around the Library, exploring some Christmas stories and making our own Christmas decorations. Thank you for having us!

Week 3
We had a very special visit from the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust! One of their wizards came to visit to ask for our help to find a missing word from nature to complete their spell. The spell is needed to look after the woodland and all the animals living in it. Along the way we found out more about oak trees and the creatures that call this tree their home!

In our outdoor exploring time, we were finding out all about spiders! We talked about how spiders create webs and the different foods they eat. In small groups, we created stick webs, which we then hung from the trees. We also made clay spiders, with 8 sticks for their legs, and googly eyes!
