Number Scavenger Hunt

• Ask an adult to hide the numbers to 20 around your room, house, or garden.
• See if you can find all 20 and place them in order.
• You could ask someone to tell you a number to find.
• Can you remember what the number looks like and find it?
• Can you find all of the numbers and put them into the correct order?

Ordering Leaves

• Collect 20 leaves from your garden or a local park.
• Write the numbers 1-20, one on each leaf, using a thick marker pen.
• Use a hole punch to make a hole in either end of the leaves and then thread them onto a piece of string.
• Don't forget to put them in the correct order!

Spring 2022

One More Than to 10

• Draw a 0-10 number line on the floor outside using chalks.
• Stand on 0.
• Ask a grown-up to say a number and then jump to that number.
• Can you work out what is one more?
• Move to that number and say it out loud!

Autumn 2021

Counting to 10

• When playing with building bricks or small toys, encourage your child to count how many of each colour or size.
• Read number-themed a books and count sets of pictures, e.g. Goldilocks and the Three Bears – count the bears, bowls, and beds.
• Sing number-themed counting rhymes and use your fingers or small props to help count the items, e.g. 10 Green Bottles.
• When out shopping count and collect objects to put into the basket, e.g. ‘Can you get 2 apples?’
