  • Is my child too ill for school?

We know it can sometimes be tricky to decide whether to keep your child off school when they're unwell.

There are government guidelines for schools and nurseries about health protection and managing specific infectious diseases at GOV.UK. These say when children should be kept out of school and when they shouldn't.

If you do keep your child at home, it's important to phone us by 8.40am on the first day of absence to let us know your child won't be in and give us the reason.

If your child is well enough to go to school but has an infection that could be passed on, such as a cold sore or head lice, please let us know.

    • The Handi App -  HANDi is designed to help you know what to do when your child is unwell - whether that's looking after them at home, taking them to see a GP, using the NHS 111 service, or visiting an urgent care service. If your child is unwell, HANDi will ask you questions about your child's condition to help you decide the best course of action.
