Orchard Primary & Pre-School
"Small enough to care, Big enough to inspire"
WEEK 1
Book 1 - Sun Hat Fun:
Go through each short story one at a time (there are 4 short stories altogether). For each short story, the children should follow the instructions below. Continually practicing the sounds, green/red words and reading the book will help them build fluency and pace. Try to concentrate on Phonics for at least 30 minutes a day:
- (Story: Sun Hat Fun) Write... 'Dad had a hat.'
- (Story: Pop) Write... 'The fox got on the top.'
- (Story: This Cat) Write... 'This cat can sing.'
- (Story: Gus) Write... 'Gus gets the bag.'
Repeat each sentence with an adult lots of times - you can do this in funny voices to help you remember e.g. witch's or robot voice. Don't forget capital letters, finger spaces and full stops, try to join your handwriting and use your Fred fingers to help you sound out.
8. Tick or Fix - check your work with a different colour (if you have one of the school's packs the children normally use their 'Purple Polishing Pen')
