Week 1

Monday 22nd February - Days of the week and concept of time

Tuesday 23rd February - Writing Numerals

Begin by watching the number formation video below to recap how each numeral should be written. Once the children are confident with writing numbers 0-10 they can move onto 0-20. Practice writing the numbers in the purple writing book, on a scrap piece of paper, using chalk on the pavement, using paint or any other creative ways you can think of!

Wednesday 24th February - Maths Stories

Today we are going to focus on reading the maths stories and saying what it says. For example, 4+2=6 would be read as "four add two equals six". Using the maths stories below, see if your child can read them independently - make sure they are using the correct terminology for each maths symbol. 

Thursday 25th February - Maths Stories

Today we are going to focus on reading the maths stories and saying what it means. For example, 4+2=6 might be read as "four cups add two cups equals six cups”.  

Using the maths stories below and see if your child can read them independently - make sure they are using the correct terminology for each maths symbol and are saying what it means as they read it.

(For example: one gingerbread man add one gingerbread man equals two gingerbread men)

 

I would appreciate it if you could then let me know how your child finds this task and whether they are able to do it without support.
