"Small enough to care, Big enough to inspire"

Week 6

Monday 8th February - this week we are going to have a look at some poetry. Today we will be looking at some list poems and then having a go at creating our own. Read the powerpoint below and listen to the 'delicate things poem's https://soundcloud.com/talkforwriting/delicate/s-WHFBgukquIj Before having a go at writing your own poem about 5 delicate things!

See Miss Mabbott's example below!

Tuesday 9th February - today we are going to recap what a simile is. Read through the powerpoint below and have a read of the example simile poems - then I would like you to draw a crazy/strange animal and create your own simile poem about it!

Wednesday 12th February - today we are going to look at metaphors. Metaphors are stronger than similes. They are when you say that one thing is another thing. e.g. Simile (The moon is like a smile) becomes The moon is a smile as a metaphor. Read the powerpoint below and listen to the example poem https://soundcloud.com/talkforwriting/you-are/s-dvnHTD8ZzH3 before having a go at creating your own metaphor list poem!

Thursday 11th February - today I would like you to create a list poem about the theme of things "I didn't know I would miss" Have a go at creating a bullet point list of things you miss whilst being in lockdown before using these ideas in a poem. You can listen to an example poem here https://soundcloud.com/talkforwriting/didnt-know/s-M7Rgv1VrhKV

See Miss Mabbott's example list ideas and poem below!

Friday 12th February - today I would like you to create an acrostic poem about lockdown. Remember an acrostic poem is where we list the letters down the side of our page and each line needs to start with that letter. Try to include some similes and metaphors.
