  • Operation Encompass

Our School and Pre-School are part of Operation Encompass, which is a national scheme that operates jointly between Early Years Settings, Schools and Police Forces.

Operation Encompass is the reporting to childcare settings, prior to the start of the next day, when a child or young person has experienced domestic abuse.

When police are called to a domestic abuse incident, where anyone under the age of 18 is either present at the scene, or usually lives, or there is a pregnant individual (over 28 weeks gestation), details of the incident are logged by the Police and shared with the Worcestershire Operation Encompass team within Worcestershire County Council.

Once this incident log has been received by the Council, information from the log is sent to the appropriate school(s). Details of the incident, including the date, time, police incident number and a description of what happened will be shared.

We have ensured that a member of our staff, (Designated Safeguarding Lead), has been trained in the Operation Encompass procedures, allowing us to then use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to support the child/ren in our care.

We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our children in our care, and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved.
