Geography Curriculum Planning Overview

At Orchard Primary School, we follow the Kapow Primary Geography curriculum as the foundation of our geography provision. This is carefully adapted and mapped to ensure full coverage of the National Curriculum, whilst providing a clear progression of geographical skills, knowledge and vocabulary from EYFS through to Year 6. Through the study of places, people, environments and the wider world, children develop a secure understanding of local, national and global geography. Our curriculum enables pupils to build their knowledge of the world's continents, countries, physical features and human geography, whilst developing the skills needed to think and work like geographers. Through enquiry, fieldwork, map work, data collection and critical thinking, children learn to ask questions, investigate the world around them and understand the interconnectedness of people and places.

We aim to inspire curiosity about our planet and equip pupils with the knowledge, vocabulary and geographical understanding needed to become informed and responsible global citizens.
