  • Home Learning

Homework is an important part of school life, helping children to achieve their potential and develop positive learning habits; it also helps to reinforce learning in school.

How home learning will be communicated to parents/carers

Home Learning tasks will be on the Class Page of the school website (under the Pupil Tab); we may also provide information in the school planners.

How parents/carers can support their child

    • Provide somewhere quiet for children to work without distractions.
    • Provide encouragement and support to children when they require it.
    • Support the school in explaining and valuing home learning.
    • Encourage pupils and praise them when homework is completed.
    • Share with school any issues arising from home learning, eg by writing a comment in the school planner.

    Time allocation

The amount of time children are expected to spend on home learning activities varies from class to class as the children progress through school.  In Reception, simple games and reading with parents provide valuable opportunities for the children to practice and develop key skills in a supportive environment. As children get older they need to develop the habit of regularly devoting short periods of time to personal study.
