Week 6. In Science we have been studying light and explored what happens to light when you use coloured filters. We made a prediction and then carried out our experiment to see if our predictions were correct.

In Art we began copying our own portraits to create a photo realistic piece after looking at the work of artist Sarah Graham. We still have work to do on these, so keep an eye out for finished pieces after half term!

We finished the half-term with a 'pal-entines disco', which was a fun way to celebrate a hard working 6 weeks. Here are a few blurry photos of our dancers in action. Well done Year 6!

Week 5. We have started a new unit in Writing this week and began by practising acting out our warning story. We created freeze frames from the story in small groups. Can you guess what part we are showing?

In Art, we started our lesson with a discussion about photography, using our oracy skills and school values to listen to each other's opinions and ideas. Our discussion statement was; 'Photography and Art created from photographs does not require as much skill as painting. Do you agree or disagree and why?'  We began the discussion as a class and then the class split into small groups. Conversation was exciting and it was interesting to hear the differing opinions. What's your opinion?

After our discussion, we put on our creative hats and recreated some well known pieces of art as we took part in the Getty Challenge!

Week 4. Today in Science, we conducted an experiment to see how the shadow changes the further from the light source. We had to work in a darkened room so the pictures may be a bit dark. We had to keep the object constant, the angle of the torch and the distance from the light source was varied and the height of the shadow marked onto a piece of white paper. We concluded the further the object is from the light source the smaller the shadow.

We have continued to work on our carousels in Design and Technology this week, making sure we are following safety rules when using the hot glue gun. In Computing, we have begun to design our own website for a new shop on Pershore High Street! We started to think about what goods or services we would be offering and how our site needs to use persuasive language to encourage local people to come and visit us.

Week 3. As part of our Science topic this term, we conducted an experiment which proves that light travels in straight lines. We worked collaboratively in our groups and discussed our results and what it told us about light travels. Then using this knowledge, we labelled some diagrams using light rays and described how a periscope works using mirrors.

In Art, we used iPads to experiment with macrophotography. Firstly, of fruits and vegetables, which we edited to create a black and white image, and then using photographs of instruments, we created an album cover.

Week 2 in Year 6 has been very busy! We have been exploring the weather, climate, wildlife and people that live in different parts of Brazil in Geography. We used the internet to research and present our findings, alongside drawings and photographs. We have continued to share and discuss our book, 'Journey to the River Sea' by Eva Ibbotson, in Reading. Our developing knowledge of Brazil has helped us to understand the new life Maia finds herself in, living a thousand miles up the Amazon River.

In Design and Technology, we have continued to use tools to measure, cut and stick our carousel components together safely and in Art we continued to look at the artist Hannah Hoch, discussing our opinions on her work and exploring her style.

Welcome back and Happy New Year 2026! We have started lots of new topics in school this week: In PE the Year 6's began their Gymnastics unit. They used the mats to create shapes and balances on our own and in groups.

We also started our new project in Art - Photography. Today's introductory lesson was based around the work of Hannah Hoch's photomontages. The children were given the design brief of creating a poster to advertise a section of a city department store. They used images of products from their section to create a cityscape. Keep a look out for more exciting projects!
