Week 5. Wow, what a busy final week in Year 6. We've finished our hot write task in our Writing lessons, begun our new geometry unit in Maths, learning all about angles and properties of shape and finished off our Science and History topics. We completed the week with the official opening of our new playground equipment by Pershore Mayor Councillor Julie Hemming and celebrated with ice-cream!

Well done Year 6, have a super break and we'll see you back in school in April for a fantastic, fun-filled final term of primary school.

Week 4. We've had a very busy week completing our Maths unit on decimals and measures and beginning a new one looking at angles and shape. Today we recapped the different types of angles and then estimated and measured some using a protractor.  In History we learnt about the NHS, Science, the flow of blood through the body and enjoyed completing a quiz during our revision SPaG lessons. We have continued to work on our carousels in Design and Technology and finished the week by celebrating Comic Relief's Red Nose Day. We all gave a donation to come to school dressed all in red, learnt about Greg James' 2006 cycling challenge and used the internet to investigate his challenge further. Look how great we look all in red!

Week 3. In Maths we have been calculating the volume of cubes and cuboids. We began finding volume practically using multi-link cubes and then we used this understanding to calculate a variety of different volumes.

Week 2 has started with a very exciting Science lesson. We made a representative model of blood using cheerios, mini marshmallows and food colouring. We used water and yellow food colouring to act as the plasma, cheerios for the red blood cells and mini marshmallows as white blood cells.

This was followed by a forensic workshop where we learnt about DNA, fingerprints, shoe imprints and looking for clues. Then we had to solve the mystery of the stolen money. We were all amazing and used the clues well to find the correct suspect!

And on Thursday we celebrated World Book Day in school. Year 6 were dressed as explorers and spent the morning exploring the picture book 'The Viewer' by Gary Crew and Shaun Tan. We studied the illustrations carefully because there were so many clues to the story that we couldn't find in the text. During the afternoon, some children chose to predict the future by creating a final slide of pictures for 'The Viewer'. Other children made their own Reading Journals to keep track of their favourite books. Great outfits Year 6!

We have dived straight back into hard work in Year 6 this week after our half-term break! A new Science topic studying the circulatory system and in History we have begun to look at medieval medicine in our topic Plague, Pox and Antibiotics! We have also spent some time completing our photo realism portraits in Art and continued to work on the structure of our carousels in Design and Technology. Some students have also begun the decorative details and there was a wonderful feeling of collaborative working in class, with students supporting and assisting their classmates. Finally, we finished our week tweaking the details on our website designs for our new ventures on Pershore High Street in Computing. A super start back Year 6, well done!
