Volunteers play an essential role in enriching our pupils' learning experiences, whether by helping with reading, supporting classroom projects, or assisting with activities/school trips.
To ensure the safety and well-being of all our children, and in line with changes to national statutory safeguarding guidance, all regular volunteers must undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before taking on this role.
There is no charge for the DBS check itself, as volunteer checks are issued free of charge by the government.
The Application Process
- Express interest: Please email or contact the school office to confirm the voluntary role you are interested in.
- Fill in an application form: We will provide you with an application form to complete. You will be asked to provide details of two people who can provide a reference for you.
- Complete the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS check) via the online portal. We will email you a link directly.
- ID verification: Once you have submitted the online form, you will need to bring three original forms of ID to the school office so we can verify your identity.
- Your certificate: The DBS check certificate will be posted directly to your home address. Once received, you must bring the original certificate to the school office so we can record the certificate number on our Single Central Record.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us keep our safeguarding procedures robust and our children safe. If you have any questions regarding the paperwork or identity documents, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
