As part of British Science Week, we really enjoyed our Forensic Science workshop! We looked at fingerprints and footprints, using magnifying glasses and tweezers to find clues!

We had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day! We enjoyed reading short stories in our Reading Cafe, listened to audio books and also shared our favourite story with a Year 1 reading buddy.

We really enjoyed our Cricket Coaching session today! We practiced throwing and catching a small ball, rolling a ball to each other, balancing using a cricket bat, and hitting a small ball with a cricket bat.

Week 2
In maths, we have been ordering and comparing height using shorter than and taller than. We have been using cubes to compare and see which towers are the tallest, measuring our feet using cubes and have been putting different objects into order from shortest to tallest.

Week 1
For our outdoor learning this week, we have been finding out all about Spring! We talked about the seasonal changes that occur at this time of the year, then had a go at making spring pots in small groups. After that, we made daffodil collages, using tissue paper.

Finding out all about Valentine's Day! We made heart suncatchers, created repeated pattern hearts, and also painted watercolour pictures in the style of Kandinsky.

In preparation for Pancake Day, we had so much fun preparing and making our own pancakes! We talked about why we celebrate Pancake Day, then worked in small groups to prepare the mixture. After, we made our pancakes, choosing different toppings!

Week 4
Finding out all about Chinese and Lunar New Year! We made fireworks in a jar and opened fortune cookies with a friend. Week 3
As part of our topic, Terrific Tales, we enjoyed drawing and painting our own cows from the story Jack and the Beanstalk! We used watercolours to paint them, and talked about the different colours we had chosen to use and why.

So much fun exploring throwing and catching in our PE session! We practiced throwing and catching a balloon to ourselves, then threw a balloon to a friend. We also had a go at rolling a smaller ball, along the floor.

In preparation for the Big Garden Birdwatch 2024, we found out all about how birds migrate to different places in the winter! We made pine cone bird feeders and used leaves to create our own migrating birds. To find out more about the Big Garden Birdwatch, please click here.

Week 2
Finding out all about the story, Jack and the Beanstalk! We were so excited to see that a beanstalk had started to grow in our classroom. We had a go at retelling the story, with different people acting as the characters. We also sequenced and retold a key part of the story, writing a label for each part, and had a go at retelling the story using Now Press Play too!

Finding out all about 2D shapes! We worked in small groups to sort them, matched them in everyday environments and also made shape puzzles.

Finding out all about snuggly bugs and how insects hibernate to survive the winter! We went on a minibeast hunt to see if we could find any hibernating insects, and also worked in small groups to make twig towers, for insects to explore in the spring and summer.

Week 7
For our last day of school, we had so much fun celebrating Christmas Jumper Day! We also had a whole school Christmas dinner in the hall, and watched a Robin Hood pantomime in the afternoon!

In preparation for Christmas, we had so much fun making gingerbread! We used scales and cups to measure and sort the ingredients, took turns stirring and creating the mixture, then baked the gingerbread and added decorations!

We have been very busy writing Christmas letters! We really enjoyed walking down to our local post box and posted them to a special address at the North Pole.

We went on our first school trip, to Pershore Library! We really enjoyed going on a treasure hunt around the Library, exploring some Christmas stories and making our own Christmas decorations. Thank you for having us!

Week 3
We had a very special visit from the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust! One of their wizards came to visit to ask for our help to find a missing word from nature to complete their spell. The spell is needed to look after the woodland and all the animals living in it. Along the way we found out more about oak trees and the creatures that call this tree their home!

In our outdoor exploring time, we were finding out all about spiders! We talked about how spiders create webs and the different foods they eat. In small groups, we created stick webs, which we then hung from the trees. We also made clay spiders, with 8 sticks for their legs, and googly eyes!

Week 2
Finding out all about Remembrance Day. We shared the clip, "Poppies", from CBeebies and talked about what this meant to us. After that, we found out about how different people mark Remembrance Day, click here to view a short clip linked to this. We printed and painted a field of poppies, which we have displayed in our classroom, and also used loose parts to make a field of poppies.

Exploring number, and beginning to match the amount to the numeral! We worked in small groups, to count out cups and find how many we had in total. We also used tweezers to count and move pom poms, and had a go at counting how many we had in a group, and matching it to the number.

We really enjoyed finding out all about Diwali! We shared a short clip to see how different people celebrate it. Click here to share this at home! We enjoyed drawing Mehndi patterns, making Diwa lamps and creating Rangoli patterns.

For our outdoor learning this week, we had so much fun exploring autumn festivals! We observed the changes to our forest area through autumn, then worked in small groups to create our own Witches Brew, in a pumpkin. We collected different natural materials from the ground and used these when sharing our poem. We also had lots of fun making our own Witchy Wands after!

Week 7
We had a wonderful time with a visit from Tiddler Town! We loved exploring the different role play areas and talking about what we'd like to be when we grow up. Some of our favourites were; the police station, the salon, boutique, fire station, farm shop and the vets!

Week 6
As part of our topic finding out all about Autumn, we have been busy making pumpkin prints! We looked at a munchkin pumpkin and talked about its texture, colour and size. Then, we used apples (which are a similar size to munchkin pumpkins), to create our own pumpkin prints! We also used orange and green paint, and cotton buds to add the stems on top.

Finding out about migration in our outdoor explorers time this week! We found out about the different things that birds face when migrating on their long journey. We worked in small groups to create bird feeders, made bird collages using natural materials and pretended to be migrating birds!

Week 5
We had so much fun toasting bread! We talked about how it smelt and how it might taste. Then, we chose our topping and used a butter knife to spread it on top.

We have been finding out all about primary and secondary colours, and exploring how we can mix them to create new colours! We really enjoyed making our own colour wheels, and also explored mixing colours using play dough and in our tuff tray.

Finding out all about autumn in our outdoor learning session! At our forest area, we collected different colours and shapes of autumn leaves to create our own leaf crowns. We also observed autumn leaves falling on our parachute.

We had so much fun exploring our outdoor area at our first week at school! We took turns going on the slide, pole, climbing frame and balance swings.
