Last Thursday, our Year 4 class enjoyed a trip to Warwick Castle as part of their topic on Kings and Queens. The children had the opportunity to experience how people lived in the castle in the past and explored the rooms of the castle, including the Great Hall, as well as the walls and towers outside. They especially enjoyed watching the birds of prey demonstration with an eagle flying just above their heads! Please have a look at their class page to see some photos of their day.
We would like to say thank you very much to our parent helpers for coming with us - we hope you enjoyed your day too!
We had a wonderful visit from Tiddler Town at the end of last term! In preparation for our new topic, Come Outside, we explored the Garden Centre and created our own cuttings and bouquets of flowers. We also loved exploring the different role play areas and stations, linked to different professions we might like to try when we grow up.
Our Year 4 class recently took part in a workshop led by artist Maggi Davis where they used artefacts from Pershore Heritage Centre as inspiration to create their own works of art.
Year 4 pupils and their parents/carers are invited to a private viewing of the exhibition on Thursday 21 March from 4pm until 6pm. Their work, alongside that of other local schools, will be on display to the public at Number 8 until Wednesday 10 April.
Today was another exciting day in school as all the classes took part in forensic science workshops during the day. The children became forensic scientists, looking for clues at a "crime scene" and trying to work out who the person was that committed the "crime". They learnt lots of interesting facts and information.

Today we celebrated World Book Day and came to school in our pyjamas ready to take part in lots of book related activities! Helping pupils become enthusiastic learners is a goal we strive towards at Orchard Primary School and World Book Day is a great opportunity to excite children about all the different kinds of books available, from fantasy to factual, classics to comics, there really is something for everyone!
Our Year 5 class were invited to Pershore High School today to watch the first performance of their school production "The Addams Family". The children watched the show and then took part in a workshop, working alongside the High School's Performing Arts Team and sixth formers to learn the dance and singing to the opening number of the show "When You're an Addams". The session ended with a chance to perform on the stage under the stage lighting!
Yesterday Year 6 were invited to Pershore Abbey along with other local schools to take part in a science and faith linked workshop. They had the opportunity to meet some real scientists and were able to discuss some big questions as well as come up with their own to ask the scientists. The children had a great day thinking about how the world began and who created humans/how life began. It was a very thought-provoking day!
Today we welcomed a specialist coach into school for a Cricket Engagement Day. Children in Reception - Year 5 had a lot of fun taking part in activities such as catching, throwing batting and bowling.
