Year 1 visit Malvern Theatre

Year 1's topic this half term will focus upon space exploration.  For World Book Day, in keeping with our space theme, we focused on a David Walliams story called The First Hippo on the Moon.  This story follows the life of a jungle hippo called Sheila, her extremely rich nemesis Hercules Waldorf Franklin the Third and their shared dream of being the first hippo on the moon. 

 

In class we have used the text as a focus within maths, Pie Corbett and topic sessions.  We have also been fortunate enough to go and see the performance at Malvern Theatre this week.  Year 1 children loved the experience of visiting the theatre where we were wowed by the puppetry and live music.  Our highlight however, by unanimous decision, was .... all of the toilet humour!
