  • Science Week Assembly

    Thu 29 Mar 2018
In our assembly today the whole school shared what we had learned during our Science Week.  Reception shared the rockets they had made and the science experiment they had tried out.  Year 1 showed us the craters and the moon they had made with clay.  Year 2 explained the experiment they carried out to see what material was best for an Astronaut's nappy.  Year 3 and the Sunny Room showed us their designs for an Astronaut's space suit and what material would be best.  Finally, Year 4 gave us a presentation with facts and pictures all about the different planets.  We have learnt so much about space this week!

  • World Book Day

    Wed 14 Mar 2018

Yesterday we celebrated (a little belatedly!) World Book Day.  We had previously postponed this due to the snow and the Year 4 Residential Trip.

Staff and children came to school in a wonderful selection of outfits as they all dressed up as their favourite book character.  Parents were also invited into the classrooms in the morning to share a story with the children.

  • Year 4 Residential Trip

Mon 12 Mar 2018 Miss Waterland

Last week Year 4 were very excited to attend their residential trip at Condover Hall in Shropshire.  Pupils from Defford-cum-Besford, Abbey Park and St Barnabas First Schools also took part.

The children completed a variety of outdoor activities including abseiling, climbing and conquest.  This experience was also an opportunity for them to develop their team building and independence skills as well as making lots of new friends.  It was lovely to see the children really thrive in a different environment as well as celebrating the success of others.

  • Celebrating Mothers Day

    Fri 09 Mar 2018
The children invited their mums into school today to celebrate Mothers Day. Each class entertained their mums and grandmothers and gave them all a card and a special handmade gift.  A big "thank you" to the Friends for providing the resources to make the presents.

  • Pamper Morning!

    Thu 01 Mar 2018

On Wednesday morning the girls enjoyed a pamper morning in the school hall!  They had fun learning how to brush and plait their hair and also learned the importance of keeping their hair clean and tidy.

The boys were also treated to a special hair style by Mr Bayliss!

We would like to thank B&M for their kind donation of hair brushes, clips and combs and would also like to say a big thank you to all the parents who helped with the hairdressing - the children had a fantastic time.
