Yesterday afternoon Year 2 took part in an activity session to gain an understanding of the life and work of Florence Nightingale, why it is important that we remember her and how the lives of men and women were different in her time.

The children took part in a variety of hands-on activities, including bandaging limbs, writing with a quill pen and ink, looking at Florence's journeys on a map, a quiz, recounting episodes of her life with pictures and packing gift boxes for the troops in the Crimea.

  • Y3/4 Netball Match

Wed 20 Jan 2016 Mr Hyde

After school on Tuesday, a group of 10 girls from Year 3 and 4 took part in a netball match against Holy Redeemer.  The girls put all their training into practice, using every bit of effort they had on such a cold evening.  The girls were a credit to the school, both on and off the netball pitch.  We may not have won the match but we showed a lot of potential.  Well done to all those who took part.

  • A Roman Invasion!

Wed 20 Jan 2016 Miss Waterland and Miss Secker
On Monday Year 3 and Year 4 were invaded by a Roman soldier and a Roman civilian!  We learnt all about life in Britain and how it changed when the Romans arrived.  We also learnt some Latin commands as well finding out about what armour the soldiers wore - we practised fighting formations with swords and shields!  All the children thoroughly enjoyed the day and learnt lots of interesting facts and are now keen to find out even more!  Take a look at the class topic books for pictures of the day and fun facts.
