  • Reception Children Visit Bristol Aquarium

    Last Friday an excited Reception class travelled by coach to Bristol Aquarium to find out more about fish!  This term their topic has been "Under the Sea" and the children learned lots of interesting facts during their tour of the Aquarium.  Did you know that:

    • Sharks sleep in the day; so when the children were watching them swim, the sharks were probably asleep!
    • Jellyfish have 4 tummies!
    • Octopus' have 3 hearts!
    • If a starfish loses one of its arms, another grows!
    • Turtles sunbathe to keep warm as they get cold when they are swimming in the water!

     

  • Solar Eclipse

    On Friday morning the children gathered in the classroom to watch  the solar eclipse.  Staff had linked one of the school i-pads to the classroom whiteboard and, despite the weather being slightly overcast,  the children were able to witness the eclipse.  The children were also able to look at pictures of the eclipse from other locations around the country via the internet.
  • National Science Week

    On Tuesday our Year 4 class took part in a Music Extravaganza at Number 8 in Pershore together with children from the Blossombrook Cluster (Defford, Norton-juxta-Kempsey, St Barnabas First and Middle, Holy Redeemer and Abbey Park Middle).  This event was held to celebrate National Science Week through poetry, song and dance.  All the schools performed individually before joining together to sing "Muscles and Bones"!

     

  • Year 1 Trip to the Cotswold Farm Park

    Yesterday, children in Year 1 enjoyed a trip to the Cotswold Farm Park as part of their topic "Down on the Farm".  They met many farmyard animals and were lucky enough to hold a baby chick and feed the lambs and goats as well as playing in the maze  and going on a farm safari.  Many thanks to all the parents who came with us on this trip.
  • Falconry Display for Year 2

    Yesterday afternoon children in Year 2 enjoyed a visit from Arden Falconry who brought 3 different owls for the children to see.  They learned a lot of interesting facts about the owls, including its habitat, food and how they are trained.  At the end of the session all the children were able to hold one of the owls.
  • Red Nose Day 2015

    Thank you to everyone who took part in Red Nose Day on Friday!  There were some fabulous outfits, hairstyles and painted faces as the children dressed up as "something funny for money".  It was also lovely to see so many mums having their photo taken with their children - there is a display in the school hall if you get the chance to have a look.  We are pleased to be able to tell you that we raised an impressive £170.60 for Comic Relief!
  • Year 4 Residential Trip

    Last week children in Year 4 took part in a Residential Trip to Condover Hall in Shropshire together with children  from other local schools (Abbey Park First and Drakes Broughton First).  The children had a great time enjoying a lot of new activities such as low ropes, abseiling, tunnelling/vortex, team challenge and laser maze/grid of stones as well as giant cluedo and a campfire in the evening.  As well as being a lot of fun, this was a great transition activity for the children who will all be moving on to Middle School in September.
  • Celebration Assembly

    This morning we were very pleased to celebrate the achievements of the following children: Katie (Stage 2 swimming and 10m distance award), Luke (Stage 3 swimming), Alice (Stage 4 swimming), Malia (Stage 4 swimming), Milo (Stage 5 swimming), Frankee (Gold Star in gymnastics for listening and working hard), Carla (Gold Star in gymnastics for working hard), Isabel (Gold Star in gymnastics for working hard at her gym), Jemima (Gold Star in gymnastics for working hard at her gym work), Anya (Gold Star in gymnastics for her front somi on the trampette) and Emily (Gold Star for good gymnastics work).

     

    Mrs Orban handed out Attendance Awards to 70 children who attended school every day during the last half-term!  Year 4 children will be presented with their certificates when they return from the Residential Trip.

     

    We also celebrated the birthdays of all the children with February birth dates!

     

    Congratulations everyone, we are very proud of you all.  Thank you also to all our parents who came to our Assembly.
