This morning Year 6 had a visit from the Science Technicians from Pershore High and they had the opportunity to look at models of erosion and weathering. The children conducted 7 experiments which demonstrated either erosion or weathering ... they even looked at acid erosion! The children particularly enjoyed heating and cooling coal over a candle. Now they are looking forward to getting their Bunsen burner license when they get to Pershore High School.

    Tue 29 Jun 2021 Mrs Brown/Ms Waterland

Pupils in Years 5 and 6 went bell boating along the River Avon and considered how rivers are important to our lives. We looked at some of the physical features of the river- including the river banks, vegetation and wildlife. We compared these to the human features, such as the lock and the weir. We also discussed the importance of staying safe around water.

  • Music Day

    Mon 21 Jun 2021

We celebrated Make Music Day at Orchard Primary School on the 21st June. We were lucky enough to have two visitors who came into school to play some live music for us, thank you to Euan who came in to play the drums and Callum who joined us to play the Cello. The children really enjoyed watching the live performances.

We also took part in the live broadcast along with lots of other schools and performers across the UK, learnt and performed the MMD Anthem 'Stand by Me', watched and listened to some of our own musicians in school via Zoom and pre-recorded videos,  and each class also carried out their own musical activities during the day.

Despite the drizzly weather, we had a great time playing mini games of rugby! The children said: "I enjoyed the toilet tag game because it was lots of fun and a great warm up" (Ava); "I enjoyed ripping the tags off people's belts to stop them moving forward" (Ella); "I enjoyed the session because I learned how to play tag rugby" (Josh); "I enjoyed the rugby because it is one of my favourite sports (Freya); "I loved it because I showed great teamwork and I liked scoring tries" (Jenson).
