Friends and family joined us on Friday morning for our Leavers Service. Year 4 children spoke of their hopes and wishes for the future before putting their writing into a special box to be opened when they are 21! They have also put in items to remind them of their time at Cherry Orchard including a programme from the school play, a DVD, a school photo and sports trophies! We will also be planting a cherry tree to remind us of our Year 4 class and the children have all written their name and the date on pebbles to be placed around the base of the tree.
We were also pleased to welcome Mr John Angood, President of Pershore Rotary Club who came to our service and presented all the Year 4 children with a dictionary donated by the Rotary Club.
We also said goodbye to three members of staff - Miss Buttitta who is leaving to become a teacher, Mrs Corteen who will be starting a teacher training course and Miss Jinks who will be continuing to teach sports in primary schools.
Tracy Gresham, Chair of the Friends, is also leaving us as Lucas is moving on to Middle School. We would like to say a big thank you for all her hard work over the last few years and the fundraising events she has organised - we will miss her!
Year 4 sang an emotional Leavers Song before the whole school joined in with a last performance of the song What A Knight from the school production.
After the service, friends and family joined the children on the field for a picnic - a lovely way to finish the term!
Good luck at Middle School Year 4 - Shine like the stars that you are!
Year 4 children were treated to a special party after school yesterday; an event traditionally organised by the parents. The children were able to enjoy party food and "mocktails" in their VIP area before joining the rest of the school for the disco. They were also given an autograph book each as a keepsake and had a lot of fun getting these books signed by their friends and staff. During the party the children also released balloons on which they had written their wishes for the future.
This morning we held our last Celebration Assembly of this academic year and were proud to celebrate the achievements of the following children: Lilly (completing the Race for Life), Evie (Girls Football Team - Manager's Player of the Year), Megan (Brownie badges - Holiday, Hostess and Musician), Eve (Brownie - Out and About Badge), Millie S (Brownie Guide Promise and Out and About Badge), Connie (Brownie Guide Promise - Out and About Badge), Sasha (Brownie Guide Promise), Carla (Gold Star Award for Bars, Cartwheel and working hard in gymnastics and also Stage 1 Swimming Award), Jemima (British Gymnastics Proficiency Award Level 3), Luke (Stage 4 Swimming Award), Alfie (Beavers Badges - Outdoor, Creative and Friendship), Ross (100m swimming distance award and Stage 7 Swimming Award) and Cerys (Musical Theatre 1 and Lyrical Ballet 1). Mrs Bitcon also handed out certificates to our Year 4 Bellboating Team who came second at the recent regatta. Well done everyone!
In preparation for the new academic year in September, children across the school spent the day in their new classroom on Friday. This gave the children an excellent opportunity to get to know their new teacher and find out about the exciting things they will be doing in the new term. We were also pleased to see the children who will be joining us in Reception from September; Miss Robinson was very proud of the way they all settled into their new classroom!
Year 4 children also spent the day at their chosen Middle School - we look forward to hearing about all the exciting things they have found out about their new school!
