  • Monks Day Experience

Thu 17 May 2018 Tiffany, Sophia and Jemima
On Tuesday all the children in Year 4 visited Pershore Abbey for a Monks Day Experience.  We put on our Monks' habits at school and then walked in silence to Pershore Abbey.  Mrs Clarke taught us how to use hand symbols to ask for food and drink because we had to eat our meal in silence as the Monks did.  We learnt about the lives of the Benedictine Monks and also the stories in the stained glass windows.  It was really interesting and we enjoyed the strawberries, apples, bread and cheese.
  • Y3's Trip to Cadbury World

Thu 17 May 2018 Harry and Malia
On Monday 14 May Year 3 and the Sunny Room went to Cadbury World.  We learnt the history of Cadbury's and how chocolate was made by hand.  We also ate lots of yummy melted chocolate and we got to choose two toppings.  Fudge and marshmallow were our favourite toppings!  Finally, we learnt lots of facts about the Maya people and their achievements and some of us even got to dress up as traditional Maya people.  We really enjoyed our Maya trip!
  • Cricket Coaching

Wed 16 May 2018 Mrs Orban
Today our Year 1 and Reception classes took part in a coaching session with Dan from Cricket All Stars.  The children had fun learning to throw and catch a cricket ball as well as practising bowling.
  • Moon Week

    Tue 15 May 2018 Mrs J Brown
We were very lucky to have some real moon rock and dust in school for a week, on loan from NASA!  During the week the whole school took part in activities linked to space and the moon.  We showed our work in assembly.  Reception designed alien underpants, Year 1 painted rocket pictures in the style of Andy Warhol, Year 2 designed moon pictures, Year 3 did close observational drawings of meteorites and Year 4 made their own bio-domes.
  • Year 4 go Bellboating!

Fri 11 May 2018 Emily, Issy and Wanessa

This week Year 4 went bellboating on the River Avon in Pershore.  Here is their account of the day!

We paddled to the loch and then to Wyre Piddle.  Then we came back and had lunch on the grass while we were waiting for one of the groups who got stuck in the bush.  Then after lunch we did races and in one of them Miss Waterland's group got sucked up by the current and ended up in the bushes. They had to be rescued by the instructor's boat, which was so funny because Miss Waterland was laughing so hard she couldn't paddle.  It was SO fun!! We saw lots of wildlife like herons, ducklings and swans!

  • Netball Tournament

Thu 10 May 2018 Mrs Orban

We hosted the first Avonreach Academy Trust Netball Tournament after school yesterday.  It was a highly competitive competition in which all the teams were evenly matched.  Cherry Orchard's grit, determination and team spirit shone as our mixed Year 3/4 team won not only their matches but the tournament as well.  Well done Lewis, Malia, Jack, Emily, Frankee, Anya, Logan S, Chelsea and Gabriel, we are very proud of you all.

We would also like to thank the parents from all the schools who came to support the children and helped make the event such a success.

  • Tri-golf Tournament

Wed 02 May 2018 Mrs Orban
A group of our Year 4 children took part in a Tri-golf Festival this week at The De Montfort School in Evesham, along with other local primary schools.  This energetic and fun version of golf promoted working as a team, respect, concentration and sportsmanship.  The children's enthusiasm was clear as they collected their scores for hitting targets.
